A DAY AT THE RACES

Sundays 19th September and 10th & 17th October 2009 at “Le Pin” National Stud

Races are run at the "Bergerie" racecourse, located down "Racing Avenue", 3 km due East of the National Stud. At the "Bergerie", one of the oldest and most prestigious racecourses in France, three race meetings are held in the autumn each year.

Quite a singular spot, it is here where the first flat and steeplechase races took place in Normandy in the 19th Century (1823).

Each year, the autumn race meetings at "Le Pin" welcome even the most renowned flat and steeplechase racing stables, who particularly appreciate the quality of the facilities and the beauty of the site. Race days are organised in a country spirit, including other entertainment in between races and enticing a large family crowd for a thrilling Sunday outing!

Hence, aside from the 21 races proposed over the 3 meetings (11 flat races and 10 steeplechase or cross-country races, including 2 "PMU" bookmaker-rated races), you will find:

- Sunday, 20th September 2009 : Mass of the Saint Hubert with the National Stud Hunting Horn players, a picnic, bouncy castles and inflatable games for children, and 2 lucky-number draws.

- Sunday, 11th October 2009 : Pony rides and races for the young, artist’s exhibitions and 2 lucky-number draws.

- Sunday, 18th October 2009 : Horse-drawn carriage parade by "Le Pin" National Stud and the Orne County Driving Association, a show of local produce and 2 lucky-number draws.
